Susannah Stewart is COO - Innovation & Sustainability at Planet Smart City, having joined the team to start a thinkubator to envision the future of real estate.
Planet Smart City began as a real estate developer in Brazil, working with three real estate types: vertical buildings, horizontal districts, and smart cities of up to 5,000 units. They then expanded into other emerging markets, as well as the US and Europe.
During her interview with Gustavo Favaron, CEO & Managing Partner of GRI Club, Susannah affirms that she wholeheartedly believes in sustainability as a capitalist, stating that it creates value on a multidimensional level. However, she warns of the ineffectiveness when sustainability is narrowed down to just ESG, ignoring the blue, social aspects.
Throughout her interview Susannah emphasises the need to leverage technology and innovation to create benefits to society that we cannot even fathom today. Creativity is essential to achieve outcomes that will provide people with the income and lifestyles to be able to enjoy existing and new real estate.
