While attending Europe GRI 2023 in Paris, Dan Pottorff, Head of Investments at Tristan Capital Partners, sat down with Gustavo Favaron, CEO & Managing Partner of GRI Club. Tristan Capital Partners is a one of the leading European real estate investment managers, working across a range of strategies throughout Europe, with a total of EUR €15 billion AUM.
Being a bilateral senior basis lender, thus offering a relatively simple product, Dan describes the large spectrum of deals they analyse, and the challenge it is to identify the diamond in the rough, questioning a number of factors: asset class, location, transitional or stabilised assets, risk factors and more. Dan reveals: “less than 1% of what we see, we actually do”.
Regarding opportunities, Tristan Capital Partners views the UK as a very liquid market for alternative lenders, however they work predominantly on the continent. Dan reports emerging opportunities especially in Germany and Scandinavia, as they become a replacement lender for emerging holes in capital structures and the banking market.
Dan will be joining other key players involved in real estate debt and credit transactions to share insights and personal anecdotes at the upcoming Credit Opportunities & RE Debt 2023 conference, in London on November 30. Read more and register here.
