The Future of POS

February 11, 2022Real Estate

As the Covid pandemic hit all corners of the world nearly two years ago, shutting down every store, office, school, park, museum, etc. retailers had to act fast to not go under. The digital transformation that was already on its way, to take place within the next five years was accelerated and it had to happen immediately.
All of a sudden omnichannel was a non negotiable on retail. Strategies such as pick up in store, ship from store, curb pick up, the surge of dark stores to fasten delivery time, all aiming to smooth the consumer's journey as they still needed to buy food, office supplies and sanitary products, but to do that and still be safe from this invisible threat was a real challenge.
That’s where new technologies come in place. After the retail sector figured they had means to stay in business with the use of it, experts started to question the future of brick and mortar stores and kept asking: is this the end of the physical store? By now, we know it isn’t. What we do know is that demand has shifted.
Now, physical stores are more relevant than ever, a place to experience a brand and not only sell products. Products can be sold on the digital channel, but the power of the consumers’ experience is something that can’t be restricted to one or the other.
The future of retail lies within gesture recognition and control, bringing together the online and the offline in order to provide the best shopping experience possible.
“Improving the point of sale in a way that makes shopping fun for customers while driving digital transformation in public spaces is a topic that has been on my mind for a long time”, AMERIA CEO, Albrecht Metter explains.
Ameria, a company from Heidelberg, Germany, has this technology and it’s coming out strong this year to shift the attention of the whole real estate sector with major focus on retail and logistics.
Mr. Metter, envisions the perfect point of sale of the future: “Why not simply integrate the online store directly into the existing retail space, creating experiences where customers are happy to share their data and finally make the customer journey perfect?”
To discuss this new technology, how it works and how it will impact the whole industry, they are presenting the Future of POS Weeks, an online event that is happening right now and will go on until Feb. 18th. There will be presentations on such topics as: "The Point of Sale of the Future", "From Experience to Data Insights" and "360° Customer Journey".
During the event it is possible to schedule 1:1 meetings, have daily live showroom tours and a webinar series is available as well.

The Future of POS Weeks are supported by the partners: Accenture Intel Corporation Pyramid Computer GmbH SAP and invidis consulting GmbH.
